IN FONDEST MEMORY

JOHN VERNON (d.2010)

John Vernon, who died recently, was one of The Questors' oldest and longest-serving members. He joined way back in 1951 and remained a member until last year. He quickly established a reputation as a brilliant comic actor, and had the gift of being just as funny offstage as on. One of his greatest successes was in A Penny fora Song in 1956 in the Old Tin Hut, the converted corrugated iron chapel which was our theatre then. He had the distinction of actually being on stage when his son Jeremy was born in 1959.

He had to leave Ealing in the sixties so never acted in the present Playhouse but he moved to Surrey where he directed and acted with a local group and was an active figure in the Friends of the Redgrave Theatre, Farnham. Both he and Sue, his wife, kept in touch with The Questors and were regular attendees at Tin Hutters' reunions.
