ABRAHAM ASSEO
Abraham, who died recently, will be remembered by only a very few Questors'
members besides myself. He worked with us for a brief period in the early 1950s before departing, first to direct professionally in this country and later to return to Israel, where he established a new drama school, directed occasionally with the Habima Theatre and finally became Head of Radio Drama.
But if his stay was short, the impact he made upon us was long-lasting. Those of us who had the experience of playing in his productions, notably The Winter's Tale (Diana Benn, Ted Scrivener, Douglas Thomas), and Thieves' Carnival (Ted Scrivener again, John Holloway and everyone else. Theatrically, he had enormous talent and his productions were always memorable. And above all else, he was such fun!
