Another link with the early days of The Questors has been severed by the death last December of Jane le Mesurier after forty-eight years' membership.
Jane joined The Questors in 1946 and her first part was in Ostrovsky's Diary of a Scoundrel the same year. Her last appearance was in Figaro Gets a Divorce in the Studio in 1990: an acting membership spanning forty-four years.
Jane, who was 76, was probably better known under her married name of Campbell.
However, she reverted to her original name in later years (she was, in fact, related to
the famous John le Mesurier). A well-known Ealing personality, she was trained at
R.A.D.A. and ran her own dramatic group for youngsters in Ealing as well as being
headmistress of her own school, where the most famous former pupil was Dusty
Springfield.
Although her stage appearances had been infrequent for many years, she still took a
keen interest in The Questors. Generous and outgoing, she was a friend of many members.
Several Questors attended the cremation at Ruislip and the reception, which some of
her former pupils attended, was held in the Grapevine Club.
