Longer standing members will remember Maire. An ex-colleague of hers has sent us
this news:
I'm saddened to report that Maire Steadman has died. Maire had been suffering from dementia for the last few years but was well cared for in a private nursing home in
Stratford on Avon. I last saw her there on 7th October, but her condition deteriorated in
December and she died peacefully on 11th January.
She said recently that she had enjoyed a wonderful life and didn't want to linger when it
was time to leave. Some years ago she arranged a plot in Westall Park Woodland Natural Burial Ground, near the village of Inkberrow, Worcestershire, looking towards the Malvern Hills. She will be interred there on 26 January in a small private family
ceremony.
Maire was a highly regarded instructor and colleague with deep interests in the world of
theatre, which she was able to develop and to contribute to, both in her 30 years with
IBM and for many years after through Questors and the RSC. She will be missed by many good friends and admirers. |
