IN FONDEST MEMORY

J CYRIL NAIRNE (d.1966)

In the death, earlier this year, of Mr J.Cyril Nairne, one of the very few Honorary Life Members of The Questors we have lost an old and valued friend. The possessor of a splendid private collection of period costumes, he was most generous in allowing these to be used on the stage, and many a Questors production—particularly during the war years, when new materials were unobtainable—has been graced by beautiful and genuine eighteenth century clothes from his collection. Indeed, Mr
Nairne's generosity in this respect was an important factor in enabling The Questors to carry on at all. We remember too, with appreciation, his keen but kindly criticisms of our productions—and of the way his clothes were worn.
