IN FOND MEMORY

NELL CRUSE (d. 2002)

Older Questors members, especially Tin-hutters, will be saddened to hear of Nell’s death in her ninety-seventh year. Nell joined The Questors in 1949 and immediately started helping backstage and in the Box Office. She became Membership Secretary on her retirement from Schweppes, coping at times with a membership of up to 4,500!

I met Nell in 1972 and we remained close friends for the rest of her life. When she finally retired from the office she accepted Honorary Life Membership with enormous pleasure. She spent her final years contentedly in Shaftesbury House where, until the last few months, she took part in all their activities.

She will be greatly missed by her close and loving family and all her friends. Nell was always a free spirit, who now “rides the winter skies” - to quote Alan Chambers’ Christmas poem.
