DEATH OF BENEFACTOR

Mr Angus Acworth CBE died recently.

At a time when the Questors were seeking substantial financial support to enable the new playhouse to be constructed it was Angus Acworth's Leche Charity that among six other organisations provided the majority of the funds to enable the building works to be paid for.

He was, later, instrumental in inviting the Questors to perform at the opening of the Banqueting House in Whitehall — one of the last remaining buildings of the old Whitehall Palace — after it had been restored to its original condition.

The masque, directed by Kit Emmet, was presented before Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and a distinguished company.
