IN FONDEST MEMORY

KEN KETTLE (d.1999)

Members will be saddened to hear of the death of Ken Kettle who had been Financial Director of The
questors since 1989. He joined the Theatre as an audience member in 1969 and was a regular attender at most of our productions. I was always amazed at how he was able to fit in the careful attention he gave to the accounts with his very busy life as an Ealing Councillor. Watching him juggle his diary when an extra Committee of Management meeting had been called was like seeing a new art form being created! I shall remember him best, however, for his dry sense of humour especially when handling awkward questions at The Annual General Meeting, but I was also grateful for his clarity in expounding the financial situation in terms that a lay member of the Committee could understand. He
was particularly good in his dealings with our auditors and the arcane mysteries that go along with
company accounts these days. During the last few years he had been hampered by problems that made walking difficult but I never heard him complain and this did not prevent him from personally overseeing work in the office. I shall miss his cheery smile and good sense and advice there and at
committee meetings.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to his wife and family.
